This position is responsible for the strategic planning, program development, and operations for clinical quality and safety programs and intiatives that support patient populations/services lines throughout Baystate Medical Center (BMC)/Baystate Health (BH) in collaboration with/under the direction of the Senior Vice President/Chief Quality Officer (SVP/CQO). This position supports/directs the provision of high value patient care and effective utilization and allocation of resources. The Senior Director ensures the development, implementation, and evaluation of quality related policies, practices, programs and services consistent with Baystate's mission, goals, and objectives.

Accountable for management and implementation of the quality program including: measurement and reporting of quality metrics, mandatory reporting of clinical data and outcomes to state and federal government, accreditors, as well as contract measures, education and training on best practices and improvement techniques in clinical quality of mandatory reportable clinical data with and oversight of selected administrative projects. This individual will be responsible for identifying opportunities for enhanced quality in healthcare delivery and work collaboratively with leaders in finance, information and technology, and operations to prioritize those opportunites for the health system.

The Senior Director of Quality reports to the SVP/CQO while collaborating closely with the service line leaders at BMC and BH. This individual will oversee mandatory Pay for Performance/Reporting requirements to be eligible for full annual payment updates/healthcare reimbursement (i.e. CMS/MassHealth/DPH/BCBS). Key working relationships include the Associate Chief Medical Officer at BMC, Vice President, Operations Excellence, Senior Director of Patient Safety. This position will have dotted line supervision for the Managers of Quality in each community hospital, Manager of Quality in Home Health and Director of Quality, Baystate Medical Practices. The Senior Director also sets recruitment, staff development, retention and staffing strategies to assure the right clinician with the right competencies in the right place, at the right time as needed within the Division of Healthcare Quality. The Senior Director reviews/recommends and implements systems and strategies that will be responsive to the ever evolving needs of the clinical areas within BH and which shall result high quality, safe clinical performance.

Massachusetts RN licensure* _OR _*clinical experience and Masters Degree is required. Certification in Healthcare Quality (CPHQ) preferred.

The ideal candidate will have 7-10 years of clinical experience and interaction with physicians and staff as a quality improvement professional or in a quality improvement program capacity. The individual should have experience in independent project management, efficiency, and an understanding of the principles surrounding performance measurement and reporting, quality improvement, standards and practices related to quality of care, hospital safety programs , outcomes data management/measurement with analytical skills and health care cost measurement and containment. Minimum of 5 years progressive experience in tertiary-care teaching hospital.
